THIS IS BAD FOR BUSINESS... BUT

Perfect skin doesn’t exist, even skin specialists have flare ups. A combination of having appendicitis and an operation, starting to eat dairy again, financial stress, as well as weather changes has been a perfect storm for my skin… most of which are totally out of my control. I feel like I’ve gone back in time…
🤒Appendicitis & Op
Having appendicitis meant internal inflammation… raised inflammation in the body can show up as inflammation on the skin, for me it shows up as acne. An operation is also a huge stress on the body, which can show up as stressed skin. Movement is obviously great for relieving stress and reducing inflammation, which aside from dog walks, I haven’t been able to move a whole lot. Being at home a lot has meant I’d got into a bad skin picking cycle too (more on this another day)..
🐄 Dairy
There’s some research to suggest dairy can impact the skin and exacerbate inflammatory conditions like acne… this won’t be the case for everyone, but it certainly is for me. I know dairy affects my gut & anything that impacts the gut can impact the skin. I recently decided to reintroduce it to my diet & my skin has spoken… dairy’s not my friend!
💵 Financial stress
Being self-employed, becoming ill is really quite stressful! It’s not happened to me before since working for myself so I’d not really thought about it. It was already on my mind a lot anyway, so the thought of then having to have a few weeks off was a lot. Stress hugely impacts the skin by disrupting hormones & causing internal inflammation.
❄️ Weather
My skin’s sensitive and can be really affected by different temperatures. In the colder months my skin is super dry, which can make acne worse.
This isn’t a pity post! Acne is normal and this is real skin. The good news is, I know what to do to heal. I’ll be sharing with you how I’m going to heal my skin, so if your skin is also unhappy then follow along and we can heal together… ✨
