Baz Luhrmann was right folks… Wear sunscreen ☀️

It doesn’t matter if it’s grey or rainy outside, pop it on every morning & thank me when you’re older. It’s the best way to prevent skin issues caused by sunlight, as well as premature ageing.

Look for a Broad Spectrum SPF, which means it protects against both UVA (rays associated with ageing) & UVB (rays that cause sunburn).

There are two types of sun protection:

1. Mineral/Physical SPF - These create a protective layer on top of the skin and the particles within the suncream reflect the light away, like a shield. Suitable for everyone, but especially those with sensitive skin, certain inflammatory conditions & pregnancy. Ingredients to look out for: Zinc oxide & Titanium dioxide.

2. Chemical SPF - These sink into the skin & absorb UV radiation, convert the UV energy into heat & disperse it to the surface of the skin. Suitable for most people but should be avoided by those with sensitive skin or certain inflammatory conditions, or when pregnant. Some chemical SPFs can affect hormones or have been found to be detrimental to sea life. Ingredients to look out for: Avobenzone, Octisalate, Homosalate.

For more tips about the best suncreams, give me a follow on Instagram & if you’d like to know what’s right for your skin, you can book a consultation with me here 😊

I also recommend listening to Baz Lurhmann - Wear Suncreen for some feel good deliciousness (it’s not all about suncream I promise)!
